Henry Pollock has ended speculation over his future by signing a new multi-year contract with Northampton Saints.
The England and British & Irish Lions back-rower was entering the final year of his previous deal.
He will now remain at Franklin’s Gardens. Pollock has committed his future to the Premiership champions.
The new contract is reportedly worth more than £400,000 per year.
Future no longer in doubt
Pollock’s future had attracted considerable interest in recent months.
Matchroom Talent Agency founder Eddie Hearn described the youngster as a potential seven-figure player earlier this year.
The 21-year-old joined Matchroom in March. He has continued his rapid rise since then.
Pollock helped Northampton win the Premiership. He has also established himself in the England set-up.
He has now earned 13 England caps. Pollock also has five British & Irish Lions caps.
Despite interest in his future, Pollock has chosen to stay at Northampton.
The club is where he began his senior career. He will now continue his development at Franklin’s Gardens.
Pushed to be the best
“I’m massively happy to re-sign with Saints, my boyhood club,” Pollock said.
“I’m still young, and we’ve got a young squad with a brilliant group of lads. Some of my best mates are here, and every day everyone pushes each other to improve and be the best players and team we can be.”
Pollock also outlined his ambitions for the next stage of his career, with Northampton targeting further domestic and European success.
“I feel like we’re only just getting started. We won the PREM last season and we want to go again,” he added.
“Winning the Champions Cup is another huge ambition for us.”
Step forward
Phil Dowson believes keeping Pollock represents an important step for Northampton as they continue to build around their emerging talent.
“Keeping someone with both his talent and mindset is hugely important for the club,” the Saints director of rugby said.
Pollock’s new agreement keeps one of English rugby’s most promising young players at Northampton as the club prepares to defend its Premiership title.
