Tunisia and Poland are heading to Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Olympics after securing the final two continental qualification spots in men’s indoor volleyball.

Poland and Tunisia join Olympic hosts the United States, AVC champions Japan, NORCECA qualifiers Cuba, and South American champions Brazil as the first six nations to qualify for the LA28 men’s volleyball tournament.

All six Olympic qualifiers have also secured places in the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup. Poland will host the tournament from September 10 to 26.

African champions

Tunisia secured its Olympic place after winning the 2026 CAVB Men’s African Nations Championship. The final took place against Cameroon at El Menzah Hall in Tunis.

Playing in front of home fans, Tunisia defeated Cameroon in straight sets. The hosts won 25-22, 25-18, and 25-19 to secure their LA28 ticket.

Tunisian outside hitter Oussama Ben Romdhane led all scorers with 19 points. Opposite player Ali Bongui added 11 points for the African champions.

LA28 will mark Tunisia’s eighth Olympic appearance in men’s indoor volleyball.

The African nation last competed in the Olympic tournament at Los Angeles 1984.

Poland defend European title

Poland also secured its Olympic place after winning the 2026 CEV Men’s EuroVolley. The victory gave Poland a direct qualification spot for the 2028 Olympic volleyball tournament.

Poland defended its European title by beating France in four sets. The final ended 31-29, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-16 at the Unipol Forum in Milan, Italy.

The Polish team faced strong competition throughout the tournament. A total of 24 nations competed for the continental qualification spot.

Poland entered the tournament as the 2025 Volleyball Nations League champion. France also arrived as a major contender after winning Olympic gold.

Poland secured the title and booked its place at LA28.

Opposite spiker Bartlomiej Boladz led Poland in the final with 16 points. Wilfredo Leon and Tomasz Fornal each added 13 points.

The European title also secured Poland’s 12th Olympic appearance in men’s volleyball.

Poland will enter the LA28 tournament as the current No. 1 team in the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Ranking.

World Cup fever

With Tunisia and Poland completing the continental qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, fans will now shift their focus to next year’s Men’s Volleyball World Cup.

Seventeen men’s teams have already qualified for next year’s World Cup in Poland.

Tunisia and Cameroon will be joined by third-placer Algeria as CAVB representatives for the 2027 World Cup, while Poland and France will be competing with EuroVolley semi-finalists Finland and Slovenia.

Slovenia secured a spot for the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup despite placing fourth in the CEV Men’s Volleyball European Championship after Poland received an automatic slot as hosts of the international tournament.

The seven teams will also be facing representatives from AVC, NORCECA, and CSV. However, only the top three highest-placed nations who have not yet qualified for the Olympics will secure direct tickets for the Los Angeles Games.
