Following a 10-year hiatus, American actress Hilary Duff has revealed her comeback to music, which will be accompanied by her own docu-series based on her personal life story.
The Lizzie McGuire star shared an Instagram post on Wednesday showcasing a carousel of her in the studio with her husband, Matthew Koma, a photo of headphones and what appeared to be lyrics on her phone.
“New music… or something,” she captioned the post.
The 37-year-old’s last musical release was in 2015 with the album “Breathe In. Breathe Out”, a dance-pop record with electronic influences that many fans appreciated.
Accompanying docu-series
Besides new music, it is reported that Duff has signed with Atlantic Records – a major American record label and division of the Warner Music Group – to produce a docu-series centred around her personal life.
The series, directed and executive produced by Sam Wrench (director of Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” movie), will “chronicle Duff’s long-awaited musical return and personal journey, offering an unfiltered vignette into Hilary’s world,” according to a press release by the record company.
Additionally, the series will feature stylised interviews, performances and videos from her personal archive.
A synopsis of the project further stated: “Embracing the ups, downs, and everything in between, fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade.”
Meanwhile, the album’s release date is yet to be confirmed, but the record is said to mark a “bold creative chapter” in Duff’s career as a pop star.
Duff’s career
Duff rose to fame on the Disney Channel in the early 2000s through her role in Lizzie McGuire, and has since appeared in notable high-profile television projects’ including the long-running “Younger” and Hulu’s “How I Met your Mother” spinoff “How I Met your Father.”
Her musical debut came in 2002 with “Santa Claus Lane,” and she released her first pop-rock project “Metamorphosis” in 2003, which produced the popular singles “So Yesterday” and “Come Clean”.
