Netflix’s Stranger Things reached its epic conclusion on Wednesday. Fans finally said goodbye to Eleven and her friends.
However, Hawkins, Indiana, still has more stories to tell. Netflix is already developing a Stranger Things spin-off. Two other projects are also continuing.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow debuted in London’s West End in 2023. The stage show explores Henry Creel’s childhood and has since moved to Broadway.
Netflix is also preparing an animated series. Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 was announced in April 2025 and is set to debut on Netflix this year.

The end of the campaign
Netflix released the final episode on December 31. The release marked the end of the main story after ten years of supernatural adventures.
The finale wrapped up the central story around Hawkins and the Upside Down. However, creators Matt and Ross Duffer have already discussed a new spin-off.
The brothers have stressed that the new project will not simply continue the original story. Instead, it will explore a different setting with new characters and actors.
Matt Duffer explained that the team wanted to answer the major questions about Hawkins and the Upside Down.
“We’re really closing the door on that.”
The upcoming spin-off will still have a connection to the original series. However, the story will stand on its own.
Ross Duffer also confirmed that the project will connect to the flagship series in some ways.
This approach gives Netflix room to expand the franchise without bringing the original characters back into the centre of the story.
Fans look into possible theories
The Stranger Things finale does not appear to reveal direct clues about the upcoming spin-off.
That has not stopped fans from developing their own theories.
One popular theory focuses on the waterfalls that appear near Eleven at the end of the series. Some viewers believe the location could connect to a future story.
Henry Creel, also known as Vecna, could also become part of a deeper exploration of the Stranger Things mythology.
The finale revealed Henry’s encounter with a mysterious man carrying a briefcase. The briefcase contained a rock linked to Henry’s powers and his connection to the Mind Flayer.
These details have given fans plenty of material to discuss. However, Netflix has not confirmed that any of these theories will influence the new spin-off.
The project could therefore take the franchise in a completely new direction.
It may be some time before Netflix releases more details. For now, though, the Stranger Things universe remains active.
The original story may have ended, but Netflix clearly sees more potential in the world beyond Hawkins.
