The 25-year-old actress also has another major project ahead. She will star in Apple Original Films’ sci-fi thriller “The Waffle House Index.”
Navarrette’s career has moved quickly since the success of “Obsession.” The film turned her into one of Hollywood’s most talked-about young stars.
From horror breakout to Oscar hopeful
Navarrette plays Nikki in “Obsession.” The low-budget horror film became a major theatrical surprise.
The movie cost about $750,000 to make. It has since earned more than $505 million worldwide.
Navarrette’s performance has also attracted awards attention.
Focus Features is campaigning her in the Best Actress category. The studio also plans a wider Oscar push for the film.

A storm approaches as her shift takes a dangerous turn. An armed stranger then arrives at the restaurant.
The story soon becomes much stranger. It reportedly features a massive flood and other unexpected sci-fi elements.
The title refers to the real-world “Waffle House Index.” The informal measure helps people assess hurricane severity.
The restaurant chain uses service levels to show the impact of severe weather.
Plot details remain limited for now. However, the film promises a mix of disaster and science fiction.
Navarrette will also serve as an executive producer. This role gives her another opportunity to expand her career behind the camera.
And then there’s Rogue
Navarrette has another major role waiting in the wings.
Marvel Studios has cast her as Rogue in the upcoming “X-Men” film. The project is scheduled to arrive in May 2028.
That casting adds another major milestone to her growing career.
