Rosé has announced her highly anticipated new single, “New Trick.” The Blackpink star teamed up with Apple for the project.
The music video uses footage shot entirely on Apple’s latest iPhone 18 Pro. The collaboration also forms part of Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” campaign.
Rosé also worked with director Dave Meyers on the video. Meyers previously directed Blackpink’s “JUMP.” He has also worked with artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, SZA and Ariana Grande.
A different side of Rosé
Rosé says “New Trick” offers a different sound from her debut solo album, “rosie.”
The singer discussed the new track in an interview with Vogue. She explained that the song moves away from the emotional style of her previous work.
Rosé wrote the song with songwriter Amy Allen earlier this year. They worked on the track just two days after Rosé attended the Met Gala in New York.
During the session, Rosé told Allen that she no longer felt inspired to write sad songs. Her debut album focused heavily on heartbreak and emotional experiences.
That change in mood helped shape “New Trick.” The new song has a much lighter and more playful feel.
Rosé described the track as one of the cutest songs she has created with Allen. She also compared it with her hit song “APT.”
Shot with iPhone 18 Pro
Rosé gave fans their first look at “New Trick” through an Instagram teaser.
The clip features a playful high-school-inspired concept. Rosé wears a navy school uniform and holds a lollipop with the song title written on it.
The teaser also hints at a pop-rock and pop-punk sound. Rosé sings the song’s title before adding, “Watch this!”
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro filmed the entire visual. The project gives Rosé a fresh way to combine music, fashion and technology.
Apple unveiled its new iPhone 18 lineup on September 9. The company announced its collaboration with Rosé on the same day.
Rosé completes Blackpink’s solo comeback line-up
Rosé is the final Blackpink member to announce new solo music this year.
Jennie started the run with “Fallen Angel” on August 28. Jisoo followed with “Click” on September 3.
Lisa then released “SaWaDiKa” on September 4.
Rosé will complete the group’s solo release lineup with “New Trick.”
The new single will arrive on September 17 at 7pm EST.
