Bayern Munich and Arsenal played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 21.
Declan Rice scored a late equaliser to earn Arsenal a point against the German giants. The result followed an entertaining contest filled with attacking football and high-quality chances.
Arsenal took the lead through Eberechi Eze in the 25th minute. However, Bayern fought back before Rice rescued the visitors late in the game.
Points shared in thrilling fixture
Eze started the match on the bench but entered the game after just 10 minutes. Bukayo Saka picked up an injury, forcing Mikel Arteta to make an early substitution.
Arteta later expressed concern about Saka’s condition, saying it “doesn’t look good at all.”
Bayern responded through Alphonso Davies, who levelled the score in the 35th minute. Harry Kane then converted a penalty in the 61st minute after Jurrien Timber handled the ball.
Arsenal refused to give up. With eight minutes of normal time remaining, Rice struck the equaliser to make it 2-2.
The draw left Arsenal seventh in the Champions League table with seven points from three matches. Bayern sat 14th with five points after recording their second consecutive draw.

Kane: ‘A little bit of disappointment’
Harry Kane, however, insisted that his side must move on from the result:
“A little bit of disappointment, but I think a draw was a fair result,” the England captain said to TNT Sports.
“We looked like the team that was going to go on and win it. They then put us under a bit of pressure and got the goal.
“We can’t be too disappointed. We take the point and move on.”
Arteta pleased with Arsenal’s performance
In contrast, Arsenal manager Arteta was pleased with the performance as he spoke to TNT Sports post-match:
“What a game. That’s one of the highest levels that we have played, the level of the opposition, what the game required, and our level as well.
“Two teams that wanted to press each other constantly. Two teams that wanted to attack and play. I think it was a fascinating game.
“I think we started the game incredibly well. We were so dominant. We did everything to deserve the first goal. We didn’t score it, then we lost Bukayo, who was having a great game.
Fine margins between both teams
“We had to adapt to it. We gave a chance away after our corner that could have cost us a goal, then they scored a goal.
“And then in the second half, the game was very even,” Arteta continued.
“They scored the second goal and then you have to react, and we certainly did, with the spirit of the team and the quality of the goal as well.
“It’s remarkable what we’ve done. I watched all the games they’ve played here in the last three years and they batter every team with many goals.
“So I really value and I’m really aware that what the boys have done tonight is special.”
