Emile Heskey predicts Man city punishment

ormer England and Liverpool striker Emile Heskey believes Manchester City could face a 60-point deduction from the Premier League.

The league found Man City guilty of repeatedly breaching its financial rules between the 2009/10 and 2017/18 seasons.

However, City are appealing the verdict. Heskey expects the legal battle to continue for at least another year.

Big points deduction predicted

Heskey discussed Man City’s possible punishment during an exclusive interview with BestBettingSites.

He believes the Premier League could deduct 60 points from the club.

“I think they will probably get a 60-point deduction,” Heskey said.

He also explained that such a penalty might not guarantee relegation. City could still survive if they finish the season with enough points.

“They’ve got a chance,” he added.

However, Heskey questioned whether that outcome would satisfy other Premier League clubs.

He also discussed the possibility of City dropping into the Championship. Some people might even argue that the club should fall into League One or League Two.

“I don’t know what will be considered good enough,” Heskey admitted.

He also suggested that both sides could negotiate behind the scenes to reach an acceptable outcome.

No end in sight

Given the high-profile nature of the case, Heskey expressed doubt that there will be a resolution any time soon.

“For the off-field legal issues and their appeal, it’s so complex that it won’t be resolved quickly or sorted this season,” he stated.

“Both sides are going to throw arguments back and forth, and it could go on for a year or more.

“Whether it ends in a massive points deduction or relegation, nobody knows yet, but it’s not getting settled straight away.”
