BTS Wins Three Awards at 2026 MTV VMAs

Korean-pop icon BTS achieved a remarkable milestone at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday, winning all three categories in which they were nominated.

Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, BTS claimed “Song of the Year,” “Best Group,” and “Best K-pop.” The awards underscored the group’s enduring global leadership following their reunion earlier this year.

Their lead single “Swim,” from their fifth studio album “Arirang,” earned the prestigious “Song of the Year.” This milestone marks the first time in VMA history that a K-pop group has won in this major category.

Aside from this, “Swim” secured the trophy for “Best K-pop.”

Moreover, BTS reclaimed the “Best Group” award, expanding their record as the most awarded act in the category’s history with five total victories.

BTS ‘honored to win’, thank ARMY

Although BTS did not attend the Los Angeles ceremony in person, they expressed heartfelt gratitude through an official statement released by Big Hit Music on Instagram. One of the members, RM, reposted a story with a caption “Thank you.”

On X, BTS also expressed their gratitude to their fans, known as ARMY, for their unwavering support.

“We’re truly honored to win,” the group wrote. “Thank you, ARMY. We couldn’t have done any of this without you.”

Released in March, “Swim” achieved massive commercial success globally, debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reaching the top of Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global chart.

BTS is currently on a major world tour that began in April, with the South American leg launching in Bogota on October 2 before moving to Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo.
