Carly Rae Jepsen Announces Emotion 10th Anniversary Re-Release

Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen celebrated the 10th anniversary of her popular third studio album, “Emotion”, on Wednesday.

She marked the occasion with a one-night-only concert at the Troubadour in Los Angeles.

During the show, Jepsen announced a 10th anniversary re-release of the album. The special edition will arrive on October 17.

“Emotion” first arrived in Japan on June 24, 2015. The album then received its worldwide release on August 21.

The synth-heavy record drew strong inspiration from 1980s pop.

It followed the huge success of Jepsen’s 2012 viral hit “Call Me Maybe”.

“Emotion” did not achieve major commercial success in terms of sales.

However, music critics praised the album. Many described its songs as “catchy” and “unapologetically pop”.

The record also helped bring together fans from different stages of Jepsen’s career.

“As such, she proudly presents the definitive version of her pop opus now,” her label said in the announcement.

Several unreleased tracks included

The new re-release will feature four previously unreleased tracks.

Those songs include “More”, “Guardian Angel”, “Back Of My Heart” and “Lost In Devotion”.

The album will also include two remixes of “Run Away With Me”.

Kyle Shearer and Rostam created the new versions. Both artists worked on the original album a decade ago.

Jepsen will also include “Cut To The Feeling” on the re-release.

The singer recorded the song for the Canadian-French film “Ballerina” in 2016.

The track never appeared on one of Jepsen’s studio albums. Fans can now hear it as part of the anniversary edition.

Jepsen wrote more than 250 songs while creating “Emotion”.

The 10th anniversary edition is not her first release from that huge collection of unreleased material.

Jepsen hints at ‘Emotion: Side C?’

Jepsen also addressed online speculation about a possible “Emotion: Side C” during her Troubadour concert.

The title refers to her popular “Emotion: Side B” EP.

Jepsen released “Emotion: Side B” on August 26, 2016. The EP arrived one year after the original album.

Like “Emotion”, the companion release received positive reviews from music publications.

Critics often viewed “Side B” as a continuation of the original album rather than a traditional collection of B-sides.

The EP features songs such as the synth-funk track “First Time”.

It also includes “Store”.

That song uses a reworked composition from an anti-smoking campaign that Jepsen created for British Columbia.

Jepsen also marked the fifth anniversary of “Emotion” in August 2020.

At that time, she released a deluxe expanded edition on streaming platforms.

The edition included fan favourites such as “Never Get To Hold You” and “Love Again”.

During her latest Los Angeles concert, Jepsen also released “More” on streaming services.

The song now serves as the promotional single for the 10th anniversary re-release.

“More” focuses on the singer’s emotional struggle over a complicated relationship.

The story follows her feelings for a man who already has a girlfriend.
