2026/27 EFL away fan price index: QPR worst

Away fans in the Championship pay an average of 11% more than the Premier League’s £30 away ticket price cap this season. Research from OLBG highlights the difference in ticket prices across the English Football League (EFL).

QPR charge the highest away ticket price in the EFL. Visiting supporters can pay up to £41 to watch their team at Loftus Road.

Southampton follow closely at £40 per ticket. They are the only other EFL club charging £40 or more for an away ticket.

In total, 23 of the EFL’s 24 most expensive away tickets belong to Championship clubs.

At the other end of the table, League Two side Crawley Town offer the cheapest away tickets. Visiting supporters pay a maximum of £22 at Broadfield Stadium.

The EFL Away Fan Price Index compares away ticket prices across all 72 clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two. It ranks each club by its highest available standard adult away ticket price.

The study also compares clubs within their own divisions. Where clubs use different pricing tiers, the index includes the most expensive available ticket. This approach shows the maximum amount an away supporter could pay for a league match.

Championship: QPR and Southampton are the only clubs charging away fans up to £40 or more per ticket, with Derby the only ones below £30

QPR have the most expensive away ticket in the EFL. Depending on the match, visiting supporters can pay up to £41 for a seat in the away end at Loftus Road.

That is £15 more than Derby County’s maximum away ticket price of £26 at Pride Park. In percentage terms, QPR’s ticket costs around 58% more.

Derby offer cheaper away tickets than 48 other EFL clubs. They also have the lowest maximum away ticket price in the Championship.

Four other Championship clubs keep their maximum away ticket price at £30. Preston North End, Charlton Athletic, West Ham United and Burnley all charge that amount.

Meanwhile, Wrexham rank joint-14th in the Championship for away ticket prices. Visiting fans can pay up to £32 at the SToK Cae Ras.

Overall, the average maximum away ticket price in the Championship stands at £33.33. That is £3.33 above the Premier League’s £30 away ticket cap.

League One: Sheffield Wednesday are the most expensive club to visit with £34 away tickets, while eight teams charge £30 and over

Sheffield Wednesday have League One’s highest maximum away ticket price at £34. That figure would place them joint-ninth in the Championship’s away ticket price rankings.

Elsewhere in League One, Leicester City, AFC Wimbledon, Plymouth Argyle, Mansfield Town, Leyton Orient, Oxford United and Bromley charge up to £30 for visiting supporters.

However, some clubs offer more affordable options. Burton Albion and Doncaster Rovers share the lowest maximum away ticket price in League One, at £25 each.

Only seven EFL clubs charge less than those two teams, according to the study.

Several other League One clubs also keep their prices relatively low. Bradford City, Huddersfield Town, Reading and Notts County charge a maximum of £26. Barnsley and Cambridge United charge up to £27.

As a result, these clubs feature among the 28 cheapest EFL teams to visit as an away supporter.

League Two: Oldham’s away tickets are among cheapest in the EFL, while Chesterfield and Crewe’s are more expensive than over half of the division above

At just £22 for their most expensive away ticket, Crawley Town are the EFL’s cheapest club to travel to as a visiting fan. The Red Devils’ away ticket price makes them at least £1 cheaper than any other League Two club, £3 cheaper than any League One side and £4 cheaper than anyone in the Championship.

Salford City, Oldham Athletic and Tranmere Rovers, meanwhile, can all be considered cheap for away fans, with a ticket in any of their respective away ends priced at £23.

Exeter City, meanwhile, are at the sharpest end of away pricing in League Two, charging fans up to £29 in the away end.

Barnet, Crewe Alexandra and Walsall also sit at the punchiest end of the pricing table, with all three charging away fans up to £28 for a fourth-tier fixture.
