Horsforth Hawks Reds celebrated back-to-back promotions on Monday night after beating Drig Dragon Flames 21-9.5 in their final match of the season.
The victory secured second place and confirmed the Hawks Reds’ promotion to Division 3.
The Hawks Reds have been sponsored by Sports News Blitz for the last two seasons. Since partnering with the growing sports brand, they have climbed from Division 5 to Division 3.
We have followed their progress throughout the season through match reports from co-captains Liz and Liv.
A perfect end to the season
The Hawks Reds finished their league campaign with an impressive record.
They won eight of their nine league matches. As a result, they secured promotion and completed a remarkable rise through the divisions.
Their final match against Drig Dragon Flames provided a fitting end to the campaign.

In the field, the Hawks meant business from the first ball.
Liz pulled off a “two-fer” on ball three, Sam launched herself in for a great running catch, and in the second innings Liv and Liz caught out batters 1 and 2 instantly!
Amy put in a heroic shift protecting the infamous Horsforth Hill – glasses and hair flying everywhere, absolutely zero regard for personal dignity, 10 out of 10 commitment 😂🙌.
Han, Steph, Rhiannon and Claire all contributed with some great throws into 2nd base to keep the Flames well under control throughout.
With the bat, the whole team fired – and special mention to Claire, who smashed two full rounders! 🌟

The team entered the game with confidence. They then produced a strong performance in both innings.
Hawks Reds dominate in the field
The Hawks meant business from the first ball.
Liz immediately made an impact with a “two-fer” on ball three. Sam then produced an excellent running catch.
The Hawks continued to apply pressure in the second innings. Liv and Liz caught batters one and two almost instantly.
Amy also delivered a memorable performance while protecting the infamous Horsforth Hill.
She chased the ball with complete commitment, with her glasses and hair flying everywhere. Her effort showed the determination that helped the team throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Han, Steph, Rhiannon and Claire all contributed with accurate throws into second base.
Their defensive work kept the Flames under control and limited their opportunities.
Strong batting performance seals victory
The Hawks Reds also impressed with the bat.
The whole team contributed to an excellent batting innings. Claire deserves special praise after hitting two full rounders.
The biggest drama arrived on ball 30.
Liz and Rhiannon both scored a full rounder on the same ball after a no-ball.
That moment capped a superb batting display from the Hawks.
Liz and Rhiannon also finished as the team’s joint top scorers. Both players recorded 5.5 rounders.
The result gave Horsforth Hawks Reds a convincing 21-9.5 victory.

The team also recognised two standout performances after the game.
🏅 Players’ POM – Laura
Laura collected every vote from her teammates.
She was unstoppable while covering first and second base. Her performance helped the Hawks maintain control throughout the match.
Laura also made sure the umpires knew about her strong performance, reminding them to record every good contribution she made.
🏅 Umpire’s POM – Liz
Liz received the umpire’s player of the match award.
Her two-fer, consistent bowling and excellent batting made her a key player on the night.
She also finished as one of the joint top scorers with 5.5 rounders.
From Division 5 to Division 3
The promotion marks another major milestone for Horsforth Hawks Reds.
The team has now achieved back-to-back promotions since Sports News Blitz began sponsoring them two seasons ago.
Their rise from Division 5 to Division 3 highlights the team’s consistency and development.
Furthermore, their eight wins from nine league matches show how strongly they finished the latest campaign.
