Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage has vowed not to work with Amazon again. The decision follows the company’s request for an AI waiver for the television series Spider-Noir.
The 62-year-old actor played Ben Reilly, also known as The Spider, in the series. However, Cage made his position clear. He does not support the use of artificial intelligence in acting.
On Spider Noir
“Amazon is a very AI-friendly company, to the tune of USD50 billion invested in OpenAI. I’m not an AI-friendly actor,” Cage said at New York Comic Con.
“I’m not part of their club. I didn’t sign the waiver to use AI on Spider-Noir.
“I’ll probably not work with that studio again, but that’s OK,” he added, as quoted by Yahoo Entertainment.
Spider Noir received 11 nominations from the Emmy Awards, winning five trophies.
However, Prime Video still cancelled the show in September 2026 after its first season.
Reflecting on the cancellation, Cage believes that a single season is enough to tell The Spider’s story.

Cage has said no to AI ever since
Cage has always been opposed to the use of AI in film-making, telling The New Yorker in a 2024 interview that he was “terrified” of AI.
He also spoke out against AI at the Saturn Awards in 2025, highlighting that he believes robots would not “dream for us.”
“That is a dead end if an actor lets one AI robot manipulate his or her performance even a little bit, an inch will eventually become a mile and all integrity, purity, and truth of art will be replaced by financial interests only. We can’t let that happen,” said Cage.
Instead of working with AI, the National Treasure actor expressed his interest in working with young and just-starting film-makers, noting that young Gen Z directors are “going at it their own way.”
“They’re doing it from scratch and by hand. I want to get with that.”
