American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers has created a chilling atmosphere for the end credits of A24’s film “Primetime.”
Bridgers’ new song “On Video” explores the fear of being watched. The track also marks her acting debut in an A24 film.
Lance Oppenheim directed “Primetime,” a psychological crime thriller based on Chris Hansen’s show “To Catch a Predator.”
Robert Pattinson stars as Chris Hansen. Merritt Wever, Anna Faris, Bokeem Woodbine, and Skyler Gisondo also join the cast.
Gisondo also appeared in Bridgers’ recently released music video for “Lost Boys.”
“I saw you”
Bridgers starts “On Video” with soft vocals and calm guitar. The track gradually builds into grunge-inspired sounds and booming instrumentals.
The music creates a darker mood that reflects guilt and despair. Its lyrics also focus on the idea of watching someone without their knowledge.
In “Primetime,” Bridgers plays a decoy for the predator-catching show. Her character draws inspiration from real people who worked behind the camera.
Bridgers co-wrote the song with Jack Antonoff and Christian Lee Hutson. She also produced the track alongside Antonoff, Ethan Gruska, Marshall Vore, and Tony Berg.

Chris Hansen does not approve
While fans have been thrilled at the announcement of the film, there have been mixed reactions from the public, following the disapproval of Chris Hansen in his character’s depiction.
Hansen said his character’s depiction was “overly dramatic,” while his family described it as a “pretty good imitation.”
Hansen was supposed to watch it in a private screening in August, but he did not want to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
“I’ve never seen anything quite like it,” said Hansen about the agreement.
Hansen finally took a seat to watch it recently, noting that he is still not a fan.
Primetime hit theaters on Friday, after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
