Southern Brave captain Sophie Molineux believes her team can make a strong start to The Hundred.

Molineux recently led Australia to ICC Women’s T20 World Cup glory. Now, she wants to bring that winning mindset to Southern Brave.

The Hundred starts this week. Southern Brave’s men’s and women’s teams will open their campaigns against Welsh Fire.

The opening fixtures will take place on Wednesday, July 22, at Utilita Bowl in Hampshire.

Molineux recently took charge as Southern Brave Women captain. She brings plenty of experience to the role after leading Australia to T20 World Cup success.

Australia beat England in the final to lift the trophy.

Molineux believes Southern Brave have built a well-balanced squad for The Hundred.

She sees plenty of depth across the team. The squad also offers strong batting and valuable bowling experience.

She added: “Looking at the squad, there’s a lot of depth and skill, there’s a lot of class with the bat and then some experience with the ball as well. It’s a nice balanced squad so yeah, I am really excited to see what the group can do.”

That balance could prove important during the competition.

The Southern Brave squad features several experienced players. Lauren Bell and Jemimah Rodrigues are among the senior names in the group.

At the same time, the team includes several exciting young players.

England and Surrey prospect Tilly Corteen-Coleman is one of those rising talents.

Southern Brave aim for another strong campaign

Southern Brave have enjoyed plenty of success in The Hundred.

Now, Molineux wants to help the team achieve even more.

Her recent experience with Australia could prove valuable. She knows what it takes to lead a team through a major T20 tournament.

However, The Hundred presents a different challenge.

Molineux will now work with a new group of players. She will also face a different competition and playing environment.

Southern Brave will begin their campaign against Welsh Fire at Utilita Bowl.

The team will hope its mix of experience and youth can deliver a strong opening performance.

The new season also gives young players a chance to make their mark.

For Southern Brave, the goal is clear. They want to build on their previous success and challenge for another Hundred title.
