Kane comes to England’s rescue
England faced a serious scare after DR Congo took an early lead in Atlanta.
Brian Cipenga gave DR Congo the advantage. As a result, England had to chase the game.
Thomas Tuchel’s side struggled to create clear chances for much of the match.
Harry Kane also found it difficult to influence the game. Djed Spence had a tough night at right-back too.
However, Anthony Gordon changed the contest after coming off the bench.
The Newcastle winger immediately gave England more attacking energy.
First, Gordon set up Kane for the equaliser. He then created another opportunity for the England captain.
Kane finished the move and completed his brace. His second goal sent England into the round of 16.
Therefore, England avoided a major upset and kept their World Cup campaign alive.
