“The rule of show business is, if it’s the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping,” she said.
The singer also acknowledged that people have different opinions about art. She said she respects those opinions and does not believe she should control how listeners respond to her music.
“I have a lot of respect for people’s subjective opinions on art. I’m not the art police,” Swift said.
She added that everyone should be able to connect with music in their own way. For Swift, an artist’s work can act as a mirror for the audience.
The singer also pointed to her fans’ changing relationships with her older albums. She explained that some fans disliked “Reputation” when it first arrived but later connected with it after experiencing different moments in their lives.
