Project Hail Mary VR Game Promises a Rocky Journey Among the Stars

Box office hit ‘Project Hail Mary’ will return to screens as a virtual and mixed-reality game, where players travel through the cosmos and keep missions intact with their extraterrestrial best friend, Rocky.

‘Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars’ is set to release in Fall 2026.

The game puts players in the shoes of Ryland Grace, the protagonist from both the book and film adaptation. Players must help save the world by maintaining the spacecraft and protecting the long-shot mission.

In addition, the game features a new original story written by Andy Weir, the novelist behind ‘Project Hail Mary’.

“Ryland Grace and his friend and crewmate Rocky must work together in the face of disaster to keep the Hail Mary intact and bring their world-saving cargo to Eridani — Rocky’s home planet and Grace’s new home,” the official synopsis reads.

“Grace, Rocky – unstoppable!”

London-based extended reality game developer Maze Theory revealed the gameplay trailer on Friday. The trailer also features James Ortiz, the original voice actor for Rocky.

Ortiz said that returning to voice Rocky was a special experience. Moreover, fans will now experience the adventure from Grace’s point of view.

Players can interact with Rocky during an entirely new journey.

“It is as close as you can get to the cinematic experience, but this time you are inside it,” Ortiz said, according to Yahoo Tech.

The trailer shows players taking control of a silent Ryland Grace. During the mission, players will race through space and keep the mission alive.

They must also protect valuable cargo and diagnose failing systems. As a result, quick decisions will play an important role throughout the adventure.

Players will work alongside Rocky while trying to save the mission.

Maze Theory will launch the game on AndroidXR, PICO and Meta platforms.

The fear-inducing clown from the unknown will return to spread turmoil once again in season two of the hit series “IT: Welcome to Derry”, HBO officially confirmed.

The success of ‘Project Hail Mary

‘Project Hail Mary’ quickly became a major box office success. The sci-fi adventure also added another significant hit to Ryan Gosling’s film career.

The film debuted with USD 80 million in North America. Meanwhile, it earned more than USD 140 million worldwide during its opening period.

The movie had a production budget of USD 200 million. However, it went on to gross around USD 684.27 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.

The film achieved this success without relying on an established franchise. Instead, it proved that audiences still have an appetite for original science-fiction stories.

Its success also highlighted the value of strong storytelling and impressive visuals. Furthermore, the film demonstrated that a fresh concept can still compete with major franchise releases.

The upcoming ‘Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars’ game now gives fans another way to explore this universe. Instead of simply watching Ryland Grace’s journey, players will experience the mission from inside the spacecraft.

As a result, the new VR and mixed-reality experience could offer fans a more immersive way to explore the story and work alongside Rocky.
