Hollie Doyle will return to Hong Kong this month after the Hong Kong Jockey Club granted her a Visiting Jockey’s licence.
The British jockey suffered a broken leg in a fall at Bath on 22 May. However, she has now returned to action. Doyle rode a winner on her first ride back at Southwell last Saturday.
Her new licence covers the period from 29 November 2026 to 31 January 2027. She can accept riding engagements from 2 December.
Hollie Doyle excited about Hong Kong return
Doyle reflected on her injury and the difficult season. She had enjoyed an excellent campaign before the setback, with more than 50 winners.
Speaking about her recovery, she said:
“The injury this season obviously hasn’t been ideal, and I was having a great season up until then with over 50 winners, so it was really bad timing. Things can always be worse though, and I’m relieved that it’s over and done with now and I can move on.
“I first came to Hong Kong in 2020, and I instantly fell in love with the racing over there. The [Hong Kong] Jockey Club has been incredibly good to me over the years and I’m really grateful they’ve given me another short-term licence off the back of what wasn’t an ideal season for me.
“I had a fruitful time there last year, with support from many owners and trainers, and I’m hoping that I can resume things when I get out there. I’ve always been driven and hungry, but the fire is really burning now.”
Doyle enjoyed success during her previous Hong Kong stint
Doyle also enjoyed a productive spell in Hong Kong last season. She rode five winners from 99 rides during her short-term licence.
That stint ran from 5 November to 23 December 2025. Her previous achievements also include a strong performance at the International Jockeys’ Championship.
The 30-year-old finished joint-second in the 2024 competition at Happy Valley. This result highlighted her ability to compete against leading international jockeys.
British and Irish jockeys join Hong Kong racing
Doyle will not be the only visiting rider from Britain and Ireland this winter.
Fellow British jockey Saffie Osborne will also hold a short-term licence. Irish riders Dylan Browne McMonagle and Rossa Ryan will join them.
Their participation adds further international talent to Hong Kong’s racing scene.
Hong Kong racing schedule
Hong Kong racing continues on Wednesday 4 November with a nine-race meeting at Happy Valley.
Doyle’s return later this month will give her another opportunity to compete in the region. She will also hope to build on her previous success and regain momentum after her injury.
