AMC’s ‘Interview with the Vampire’ teases third season with new title, cast members

The journey into Anne Rice’s immortal universe continues with AMC’s Interview with the Vampire.

The cast and crew teased the upcoming third season at the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). They revealed a new title and several new cast members.

The new season is now called The Vampire Lestat. The title pays homage to Rice’s gothic classic.

Sam Reid will return as Lestat de Lioncourt. This time, Lestat becomes a famous rock star with a huge following.

Fans have already seen Lestat through Louis de Pointe du Lac’s memories. Season three will change that approach.

The story will give Lestat the chance to tell his own side. It will also explore his human past in a French town hundreds of years ago.

Who are the returning cast members?

The original cast will return for the new season.

Sam Reid returns as Lestat

Australian actor Sam Reid will once again play Lestat.

Reid also had to improve his music skills for the role.

Fans got a taste of “Rockstat” at last year’s SDCC. AMC released ‘Long Face’, a deeply erotic single featuring Reid’s vocals.

Series composer Daniel Hart wrote the song.

According to GayTimes, Reid teased another musical moment at this year’s SDCC video suite.

He suggested that Lestat could sing a song inspired by queer pop icon Chappell Roan. Hart “spent an entire week listening solely to [Roan], and I think there’s probably a song that feels quite like her.”

Jacob Anderson returns as Louis

Jacob Anderson will return as Louis de Pointe du Lac.

The SDCC sneak peek showed Louis after the major revelations of season two. He appears to be doing better than before.

Some fans worried that Lestat’s new point of view would reduce Louis’ role.

Showrunner and executive producer Rolin Jones dismissed those concerns. He told Variety that “no one should worry at all” because there is “way more Louis in our show than there is in the book.”

The teaser also showed a heated argument between Louis and Lestat.

The scene even looked like divorce proceedings. Their respective lawyers stood nearby.

Daniel, Armand and Claudia return

Eric Bogosian will return as Daniel Molloy.

Daniel now lives as a newly turned vampire. He also enjoys the fame created by the book he published after interviewing Louis.

Assad Zaman will also reprise his role as Armand.

Armand is Daniel’s maker and remains an important figure in the story.

Bogosian confirmed to Screen Rant that “Armand and Daniel will be face to face.” He also said that he and Zaman had already filmed some “pretty intense” scenes.

Delainey Hayles will also return.

Hayles played Claudia in season two. However, the SDCC panel suggested that she could play a different character this time.

The show has not revealed more details about that role yet.

Who are the new characters?

Joining Lestat are some hotly anticipated characters played by a new set of actors.

Jennifer Ehle – known for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in the 1995 BBC1 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice – will play the character of Gabriella, Lestat’s mother, with whom he has a questionable relationship.

Actor and playwright Damien Atkins will transform into Magnus, the vampire responsible for turning Lestat into a blood-sucking creature of the night.

Former ‘Twilight’ actor Christopher Heyerdahl will be rejoining the land of immortals as Marius de Romanus, Armand’s maker and a crucial character in Lestat’s story.

Canadian actress Ella Ballentine will portray Baby Jenks, who, in the book, was turned into a vampire by Fang Gang leader, Killer, when she was only 14 years old.

‘The Vampire Lestat’ is slated for release sometime in 2026.

It is an adaptation of the second book of the same name in Rice’s ‘The Vampire Chronicles’ series, with the show’s previous two seasons being based on the first instalment, ‘Interview with the Vampire’.
