A Bollywood crew has arrived in Vietnam’s Quang Tri province to begin filming Silaa. The movie will showcase the spectacular caves of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
The film will feature Son Doong Cave, the world’s largest known cave. It marks the first Indian movie to highlight the famous cave system.
Dang Dong Ha, deputy director of the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, welcomed the crew.
He said the production offers a major opportunity to promote Quang Tri’s tourism. The film could reach Indian travellers and audiences worldwide, Viet Nam News reported.
The official also said the project could support new film-related tourism services in the province.
Meanwhile, local authorities promised to support filmmakers. They also pledged to create suitable conditions for future productions in Quang Tri.
Strict access rules limit crew inside cave
Omung Kumar directs Silaa. The production will make history as the first Bollywood project to film inside Son Doong Cave.
Nguyen Chau A serves as chief executive officer of Oxalis Adventure. The company operates official tours of Son Doong Cave.
He confirmed that Oxalis Adventure has signed an agreement with the Indian film team.
Strict environmental rules limit access to the cave. As a result, only 12 crew members can film inside Son Doong, he said.
The production will also film scenes at Hang Tien, Tu Lan and Chuot Caves. These locations sit in the Tan Hoa region.
Filming in Quang Tri will continue until August 12.
The film team expects to release Silaa globally in 2026. Bollywood actors Harshvardhan Rane and Sadia Khateeb will lead the cast.

Son Doong’s international fame continues to grow
Son Doong Cave stretches for nine kilometres. It measures around 150 metres wide and has ceilings higher than 200 metres.
These dimensions make Son Doong the world’s largest known cave. Vietnam also considers the cave a national treasure.
The cave gained international attention in 2015. ABC News featured it live on Good Morning America.
Today, Son Doong sits within the new Quang Tri province. Vietnam created the province by merging the former Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces.
The change forms part of Vietnam’s wider administrative restructuring. The reform reduced the number of provinces and cities from 63 to 34.
