Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Season 5 of the romantic comedy-drama “Emily in Paris”. The new season takes Chicago-born marketing executive Emily Cooper from the famous streets of Paris to Rome.
Season 5 premieres on December 18. Emily (Lily Collins) moves to the Eternal City to run Agence Grateau’s Rome office. She also falls for Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini), a charming Italian fashion heir.
Ciao, Roma!
Season 5’s one-minute trailer arrived on October 22. It opens with Emily looking out of a window as her new love interest, Marcello, narrates.
“We start on a beautiful woman… she’s joined by a man,” Marcello says in the trailer. The footage shows the pair growing closer and sharing a kiss.
Emily’s best friend, Mindy Chen (Ashley Park), later appears and tells her, “Rome looks good on you.”
The trailer then shows Emily settling into her new role and enjoying lavish parties. She also tours Roman ruins on a Vespa and cruises through the canals of Venice.
Emily’s co-workers Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Luc (Bruno Gouery), and Julien (Samuel Arnold) also appear in Rome. Julien asks, “If we are all here, who’s in Paris?”
The new season also introduces Minnie Driver as Princess Jane, a royal friend of Emily’s boss Sylvie. Michele Laroque plays Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie, while Bryan Greenberg plays an American living in Paris.
Emily’s former love interests Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie Peterson (Lucien Laviscount) do not appear in the trailer. However, both actors will return for Season 5.

Tale of two cities
“Emily in Paris” creator Darren Star described Season 5 as a “tale of two cities”. Emily will split her time between Rome and Paris while taking her career and love life in new directions.
“From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us,” Star told Netflix’s Tudum when production began in May.
Emily will spend more time in Rome this season, but Star confirmed that Paris will remain part of her story. He assured fans that the move does not mean Emily will leave the French capital behind.
