Ratings experts Timeform have highlighted Frankel’s dominance among milers this century. They have also compared the legendary colt with Bow Echo.
Frankel leads Timeform’s all-time rankings with a rating of 147. He achieved that mark in the 2012 Queen Anne Stakes.
The figure puts Frankel well clear of the next highest-rated miler this century, Hawk Wing, who reached 136.
Kingman and Baaeed share third place with ratings of 134. Meanwhile, Bow Echo sits among six horses rated 133.
That result already puts George Boughey’s colt among the top 10 highest-rated milers this century.
Bow Echo reached his 133 rating after winning the 2000 Guineas in May. So far, that remains the only time he has produced a rating above 130.
Frankel, by contrast, recorded a rating of 130 or higher six times over a mile.
| Timeform’s best milers since 2000 | Peak TF Rating | Performances 130+ |
|---|---|---|
| Frankel | 147 | 6 |
| Hawk Wing | 136 | 1 |
| Kingman | 134 | 3 |
| Baaeed | 134 | 3 |
| Goldikova | 133 | 1 |

| Bow Echo | 133 | 1 |
| Raven’s Pass | 133 | 1 |

Timeform’s figures show just how far Frankel stands above his rivals.
The former Sir Henry Cecil-trained star reached a peak rating of 147. His closest rival on a single performance, Hawk Wing, sits 11 pounds behind him.
Frankel also produced six performances above 130 over a mile. That record gives him a clear advantage in terms of consistency at the highest level.
