Hollywood is mourning the tragic deaths of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner.
Rob was an actor and director known for films such as When Harry Met Sally and The Princess Bride. His wife Michele was a photographer and producer.
Authorities found the couple dead at their Los Angeles home on Sunday. Both had suffered stab wounds.
Rob was 78, while Michele was 68.
Police arrested their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, hours later. Prosecutors have charged him with allegedly murdering his parents.
Nick remains in custody in Los Angeles without bail.
Romy and Jake Reiner speak of ‘horrific and devastating loss’
Rob and Michele’s two other children, Romy and Jake Reiner, described their parents’ deaths as “horrific and devastating”.
The siblings also asked for privacy as they deal with the loss.
US media reports say 28-year-old Romy found her father’s body at the family home. She later learned from paramedics that her mother had also died.
The siblings released a statement on Wednesday.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” they wrote.
“The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
Romy and Jake also thanked family, friends and members of the public for their messages of support.
They said the kindness shown to the family had provided comfort during an extremely difficult time.

Close friends lead tributes
Several of Rob’s closest friends in Hollywood have paid tribute to the late couple.
Billy Crystal, Albert Brooks, Martin Short and Larry David joined other friends in a statement sent to The Associated Press on Tuesday.
They praised Rob’s career and his influence on generations of filmmakers and audiences.
“Absorbing all he had learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear, Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master story teller,” the group wrote.
They also highlighted his remarkable range as a director.
“There is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to ‘mockumentary’ to documentary he was always at the top of his game.”
The friends said audiences trusted Rob and continued to support his films throughout his career.
They also remembered his commitment to public life and social causes.
The statement described Michele as Rob’s “perfect partner”.
“Strong and determined, Michele and Rob Reiner devoted a great deal of their lives for the betterment of our fellow citizens,” the statement said.
The friends added that the couple formed a “special force together” and said they would miss them forever.
Nick Reiner faces murder charges
Nick Reiner appeared before the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday.
He wore an anti-suicide smock during the hearing.
Prosecutors have charged him with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with his parents’ deaths.
The court postponed his arraignment until January 7 next year at the request of his lawyer, Alan Jackson.
Jackson previously represented Hollywood figures including Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.
The lawyer said the case involved “very complex and serious issues” that required careful analysis.
He also urged the public to avoid rushing to judgment while the legal process continues.
“We ask that during this process, you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward,” Jackson told reporters outside court.
He also called for restraint and respect for the Reiner family.
The investigation and court proceedings remain ongoing.
