K-pop star HyunA has addressed the incident after she fainted on stage during the Waterbomb Macau music festival on November 9. The singer collapsed while performing her hit song “Bubble Pop!”
Footage of the incident quickly spread online. Backup dancers and security staff rushed to help HyunA after she collapsed during the performance.
Later that evening, HyunA shared a statement on Instagram. She apologised to fans and expressed regret that she could not deliver the performance she had hoped for.
“I’m truly, truly sorry,” she wrote, according to a translation cited by K-pop news portal Soompi and ABS-CBN News.
HyunA said she wanted to give fans a great performance. However, she felt that she had not performed at the professional level she expected from herself.
The singer also confirmed that medical staff had cleared her after the incident. She said she was in stable condition.
HyunA promised to take better care of her health in the future. She also said she would work on improving her stamina and continue working hard.
Past episodes of fainting
HyunA has reportedly experienced fainting episodes in the past. Her management team said her schedule would be temporarily reduced while she recovers and her condition is monitored.
The team also stressed that HyunA’s wellbeing remains the main priority.
Reports have linked the singer’s previous fainting episodes to vasovagal syncope. The condition can cause a person to faint after a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate.
HyunA has previously spoken about experiencing health difficulties during her career. Her early years in the K-pop industry also included challenges that affected her ability to perform.
The singer left Wonder Girls shortly after the group’s debut in 2007. She later continued her career as a solo artist and became one of South Korea’s best-known K-pop performers.
Following the Waterbomb Macau incident, HyunA thanked her fans for their support and understanding. She also promised to focus more on her health as she prepares for future activities.
