The wait is over. Formula 1 is finally heading to Monaco for the start of the European races.
The Monaco Grand Prix Ferrari story will attract plenty of attention this weekend. Charles Leclerc will race at his home Grand Prix in front of his fellow Monégasque fans.
Leclerc enjoyed a dream result in Monaco in 2024. He won his home race and finally achieved a major career goal.
Now, can Leclerc and Ferrari repeat that success on the streets of Monte Carlo?
Sport Just Sport writer Daniele Capri gives his thoughts.
Great expectations
Mercedes should challenge for victory after a strong start to the season. McLaren should also remain in the fight.
Both teams use the same Mercedes engine. The power unit plays an important role under the 2026 regulations.
However, Monaco presents a different challenge. The Monte Carlo circuit does not reward engine power alone.
Instead, teams need a strong chassis and excellent performance through slow corners. Monaco features several tight and technical sections.
That could give Ferrari an important advantage.
Ferrari has struggled to match Mercedes in engine performance this season. The team has lost a few tenths of a second in some areas.
However, the Ferrari chassis remains one of the team’s biggest strengths.
The Prancing Horse performs particularly well through slow corners. That strength could become crucial around Monte Carlo.
