The journey into Anne Rice’s immortal universe continues. The cast and crew of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire teased the show’s third season at the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) last weekend.
The upcoming season has a new title and several new cast members. It will now be called The Vampire Lestat, paying homage to Rice’s gothic classic.
The new season will bring Lestat de Lioncourt back into the spotlight. This time, the charismatic vampire will tell his own story. He will also appear as a famous rock star with a loyal following.
The series will explore Lestat’s past through his own perspective. Fans will travel back hundreds of years to his early life in a remote French town.
Who are the returning cast members?
Several original cast members will return for the third season.
Australian actor Sam Reid will reprise his role as Lestat. He also sharpened his music skills for the character’s new rock-star persona.
Fans first heard Reid perform as “Rockstat” at last year’s SDCC. AMC released Long Face, an erotic single featuring Reid’s vocals and music by series composer Daniel Hart.
According to GayTimes, Reid also teased a possible song inspired by queer pop star Chappell Roan. He revealed that Hart spent an entire week listening to Roan while working on the music.
Jacob Anderson will also return as Louis de Pointe du Lac. A sneak peek shown at the SDCC panel on July 26 suggested that Louis is doing well after the events of the previous season.
Some fans worried that Lestat’s new point of view would reduce Louis’ role. However, showrunner and executive producer Rolin Jones reassured viewers. He told Variety that fans should not worry because the series will feature “way more Louis” than Rice’s book.
The teaser also showed a heated confrontation between Louis and Lestat. The scene appeared to resemble divorce proceedings, with lawyers standing alongside the two vampires.
Eric Bogosian will return as Daniel Molloy. Daniel is no longer an illness-ridden human. Instead, he has become a rebellious new vampire after his encounter with Louis.
Assad Zaman will also reprise his role as Armand, Daniel’s maker. Bogosian confirmed to Screen Rant that Armand and Daniel will meet face to face. He also described some of their scenes as intense.
Delainey Hayles will return as Claudia. However, her role remains unclear. The SDCC panel hinted that Hayles could portray a different character this time.
Who are the new characters?
The third season will also introduce several important characters from Lestat’s story.
Jennifer Ehle will play Gabriella, Lestat’s mother. Ehle is best known for playing Elizabeth Bennet in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
Damien Atkins will portray Magnus. The character plays a major role in Lestat’s transformation into a vampire.
Former Twilight actor Christopher Heyerdahl will join the cast as Marius de Romanus. Marius is Armand’s maker and an important figure in Lestat’s journey.
Canadian actress Ella Ballentine will play Baby Jenks. In Rice’s book, Killer turns the young character into a vampire when she is only 14.
When will The Vampire Lestat premiere?
The Vampire Lestat is scheduled to arrive in 2026.
The series will adapt Rice’s second The Vampire Chronicles novel, The Vampire Lestat. The first two seasons drew their story from the opening book, Interview with the Vampire.
With Lestat now taking centre stage, the third season will offer a fresh perspective on AMC’s gothic vampire universe.
