KKa Ying Rising now world’s highest-rated horse after breathtaking return at Sha Tin
Ka Ying Rising has created history after his record-breaking performance in the G3 HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup Handicap (6f/1200m) at Sha Tin on Sunday, 6 September.
The victory lifted Ka Ying Rising to a career-high rating of 135. He also returned to outright No. 1 in the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings (LWBRR). The International Federation of Horseracing Authorities confirmed the new rankings on Thursday, 10 September.
Ka Ying Rising remains unbeaten in his past 21 starts. His new rating puts him four points clear of Ombudsman, who sits second on 131.
Ka Ying Rising earned his four-point rise after another spectacular display at Sha Tin.
The David Hayes-trained six-year-old clocked 1m 06.11s over 1200m. He won the Chief Executive’s Cup by seven and three-quarter lengths.
The performance also saw him take almost a second off his own Sha Tin track record. It marked his sixth course record and his fifth over the 1200m turf course.
His new mark of 135 sets a new record for a sprinter under the current LONGINES rankings system. He moved past Australian champion Black Caviar, who reached 132 after winning the 2011 G1 Newmarket Handicap.
Black Caviar retired unbeaten after 25 starts. Ka Ying Rising now owns the highest sprint rating in the history of the current system.
