Global girl group KATSEYE has announced that it will no longer perform at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival. Member Megan Skiendiel suffered an ankle injury during rehearsals.
The group shared the news in an Instagram Story.
Megan sprained her ankle on Wednesday during rehearsals for KATSEYE’s upcoming ‘The Wildworld Tour’.
The tour will begin in Dublin, Ireland, on September 1.
KATSEYE said the cancellation disappointed the group as much as its fans.
“We know how much our fans were looking forward to seeing us, and it breaks our hearts to disappoint anyone who made plans to be there,” the announcement said.
The group also explained why the festival meant so much to them.
“We were especially excited for Daisy Chain Fields because it’s not just about music, but the greater mission of joy and community,” they said.
KATSEYE sent its support to Olivia Rodrigo and everyone involved in organising the event.
The group also praised the artists, non-profit organisations and volunteers supporting the festival.
“It’s going to be such an amazing day, and we can’t wait to see everyone on tour,” the announcement added.
It remains unclear whether Megan will return in time for the start of the world tour.
Following KATSEYE’s withdrawal, Devon Again joined the Daisy Chain Fields line-up.
The festival will take place in Irvine, California, on Saturday.
The event features an all-women line-up. Organisers will donate the proceeds to organisations supporting women and girls.
KATSEYE line-up woes
The latest setback comes as several KATSEYE members have taken breaks from group activities.
The group faces these changes only days before the start of its global tour.
In February, HYBE and Geffen Records announced that Manon would take an indefinite break from the group.
The labels said she would focus on her health and well-being.
“We fully support this decision,” the labels said.
“KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us.”
Manon’s absence prompted speculation among fans.
Her absence from promotional materials and music activities increased that speculation.
She also missed major appearances, including Lollapalooza and Coachella.
However, the Swiss singer later said she and HYBE x Geffen were having positive conversations.
She also said she continued to receive support from her label.
During her hiatus, Manon explored several projects outside the group.
She appeared in an advertisement for Tommy Hilfiger.
She also appeared as a guest during the 21st season of “Germany’s Next Topmodel” in May.
The leader’s response and hiatus
Months after Manon began her hiatus, KATSEYE leader Sophia addressed the situation.
She asked fans not to make assumptions about Manon’s absence.
“Because we did announce that it is about her well-being, it’s not our place or anybody else’s place to rush her,” Sophia told Allure in June.
Sophia also rejected rumours that race caused Manon’s hiatus.
Manon is the group’s only Black member.
“We can definitely say that in our situation, in no way was it about race,” Sophia said.
“That goes against everything that we stand for.”
Sophia later announced her own hiatus.
On August 7, she told fans that she would take a break to focus on her mental health.
Her announcement came three days after she missed the premiere of KATSEYE’s movie ‘Wild Hearts’.
KATSEYE now faces another challenge after Megan’s rehearsal injury forced the group to withdraw from Daisy Chain Fields.
Fans will hope Megan recovers quickly as the group prepares to begin ‘The Wildworld Tour’.
